As we get ready to launch our new spring collection, (which we’re bursting with excitement about, by the way…) we’ve been reflecting on how much we love colour, and how colour influences our lives and inspires us every day. When working with our many talented local artist collaborators to create new hand-drawn designs for each collection, we always make a point of staying on trend with the season’s hottest hues. We find inspiration from all different things, whether it’s fashion, interior design trends, or even food! (Mostly vibrant fruits, colourful candies and delectable desserts, naturally.)
We are always on the lookout for inspiration, and are constantly sending each other daily inspirational photos of colours, prints and patterns from our favourite clothing brands, magazines, blogs, flower gardens or even a cute tea towel we come across in a store! Aside from being lifelong friends, our mutual love of colour is a big part of the inspiration behind Printed Matter. We both believe whole heartedly that colour provides a framework for one’s life – from your mood to your personal expression.
This season we feel the collection - despite being influenced by numerous designers- is framed by a more transitional colour palette, mixing some “retro” yellow & lime colour vibes (a nod to 2017’s pantone of the year, Greenery) with the more contemporary brightness of neons, some tropical punches of coral and some traditional blue & blush tones. It is with pride that we give you the first glimpse at our spring 2017 colour wheel, from which we drew the inspiration for each of our fun and unique new designs. The collection will launch in three weeks, and we’ve collaborated with a few new amazing artists such as Emily Taylor and Tae Lee, so stay tuned for some awesome new patterns and products to choose from!
